Young Drivers

The Network Safety Team at Transport for Buckinghamshire runs a number of initiatives that support the education and training of young drivers.

Safe Drive Stay Alive

SDSA is an innovative theatre in education project that partners across the Thames Valley work together to produce. It involves a film and stage show about a group of young friends out for the evening which tragically ends in a collision. A victim, parents, a police officer, fireman, paramedic and doctor go on stage and talk about what it is like for them on a personal level to deal with a collision and the aftermath.

First Car Magazine

First Car magazine aims to help 16-19 year old learners and drivers find out more about driving and staying safe on the road. The magazine is currently available for schools in Buckinghamshire and can be ordered and delivered to you for free, through the Road Safety Team.

Learn and Live

We have worked with Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service to develop a road safety presentation – ‘Learn and Live’ – which is aimed at 17 – 18 year old drivers and passengers. The presentation takes up to one hour and will be delivered by a member of the Fire & Rescue Service in your school. The audience are encouraged to discuss some of the issues around young people and cars, including peer pressure and seatbelts.
